Remember in the Bible, at the end of the book of John?  Jesus tells Peter, “Follow me”.  The very next words in the Bible are: “Turning his head, Peter noticed the disciple Jesus loved…”  Jesus says, Follow me, and Peter turns his head to look at John.

This past weekend I ran a 10K (6.2 miles) in Canada with 50,000 people or so.  The entire time, I am looking around, looking at shoes, hair do’s, fanny packs, back packs, guys with pink spandex (are you kidding me?), people on stretchers, little kids, people with signs, people cheering, bands singing, garbage on the ground, port-a-potties, etc.  I am running. I am sweating. I am listening to my iPod. I am there for one reason:  to finish.  But I noticed and turned my head to a lot of distracting things.  Maybe that’s why I was 3 minutes slower this year.

I am not trying to over-analyze this one passage.  I am just saying, when Jesus says, “Follow me”, don’t turn around and start asking about other people, what’s gonna happen to them, where are they going.  When Jesus says, “Come”, just come.  Don’t waste time.  Don’t get distracted.  Don’t put it off.  Don’t procrastinate.  Jesus Everything.  Carpe Jesus.  Run! Run Hard!  Don’t look back!  You get moving in the right direction and don’t stop!  Don’t look at that guy in the pink spandex.  Don’t read those signs and stop to listen to the band awhile.  Run, baby RUN!  Your gifts are different.  Your gifts are required for where God is taking you.  Your doors will open in the right time.  Your destiny is secure, your God is real, and honey, you are going to win!  You are going to make it.  I know you!  I know what He put inside of you.  I know He is faithful to complete what He started.  He has a plan and He is working His plan.  “If God said it, he will do it.  If God said it, it will come to pass.  All the time.  Anytime.  Everytime.”
