I wasn’t interested in Justin Beiber at all.  There are so many artists out there.  You can’t like them all. We all only have 24 hours in the day so you gotta pick who you like and who you listen to.  And Justin Bieber didn’t make the cut. I’m 29-I would rather listen to the Beattles.  Until I found out how much he likes Pastor Judah Smith.  What? Yeah,  my pastor is someone he likes, listens to, and is friends with.  Hmmm.  Now I am interested but still only have 24 hours in the day so not that interested but still more than I was.

So, we went.  We went to the movie about some 16 year old’s life.  “Never Say Never”.  A few hours later, I was sold.  Hook, line, and sinker.  Went home and bought two albums on iTunes.  It’s not Christian music so don’t consider this endorsement.  But I like the kid.  It showed him at 2 years old-keeping a beat.  At 2 years old, I was trying to get coordinated enough to not fall in the toilet and this boy was drumming.  He’s got serious talent. He got started slowly, just doing what he was good at.  Then someone heard him and the rest is history. He sold the Madison Square Garden out in 22 minutes. He is not just a sweet face with a very sweet family.  But he has a good group of people supporting him from what I saw and I pray he takes the high road when so many have taken a much lower road downhill.

You don’t have to see the movie and you don’t have to care about this very “now” artist.  But if nothing else, please pray.  Pray he continues to listen to his mom, his dad, his grandparents, and healthy mentors.  Success at a young age can destroy you if you don’t have the character and foundation you need to sustain a healthy lifestyle but who knows.  Platforms mean influence and influence means change and change can be good.

And with that, I’m gonna press play.
