The past 2 weeks have been nuts. You don’t know the half of it. And I didn’t realize it until I sat down and listed it all out.

It’s been a solid 2 weeks of a wide range of emotions from a wide range of circumstances: fear, happiness, ecstasy, anxiety, anger, frustration, joy, sadness, guilt, related to family issues, financial favor, health stuff, divine appointments, etc.

And, of course, depression after the Seahawks lost the Superbowl.

BUT what has sifted out after initial emotion is that I have had this overwhelming sense of peace. In some of the most odd/disappointing/frustrating/crazy times, PEACE.

Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and definite requests, with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace shall be yours…”

NOW WAIT A MINUTE! Pray about everything. Tell God what you need/want and He what? He gives PEACE?

I didn’t ask for Stupid Peace!

I asked for dreams to come true, miracles to happen, answers to questions. I asked for things I have been asking for for years! AND YOU GIVE PEACE?!

Of all the audacious attempts to answer my prayers! That’s all you have to offer me? That’s what you think I want? Don’t you know me at all?

He offers Himself. Jesus IS peace. I ask for things, miracles, answers and He gives Himself.

When you are crying yourself to sleep, he offers himself.
When your sanity is hanging by a thread, he offers himself.
When everyday feels like Monday, he offers himself.
When you are asking “why?”, he offers himself.
When you win the lottery, he offers himself.
When you want to punch the wall, he offers himself.
When miracles happen, he offers himself.
When your face is breaking out, he offers himself.
When you are tired of your own personality, he offers himself.
When you are stressed, overwhelmed, and worried, he offers himself.
When you feel too skinny or too fat, he offers himself.
When you feel intimidated and afraid, he offers himself.
When your family is imploding, he offers himself.
When your love life is imploding, he offers himself.
When you are at the end of your rope, he offers himself.
When all your dreams are coming true, he offers himself.

In the moments when I have questioned life, I have found something. His Presence. His overwhelming presence. I’ve fallen asleep in peace knowing he is holding me.

AND THAT IS BETTER. HE IS BETTER- better than answered prayers, miracles, and dreams coming true.

His presence is better than money, boyfriends, the baby you always wanted, promotions, health, free drinks at Starbucks, pizza, Theo dark chocolate peanut butter cups, a perfectly roasted chicken, a glass of wine, a hot red dress, a sunny day in Hawaii, free plane tickets, a Superbowl win, no acne, lots of friends or even a date on Valentine’s Day.

I’ll take peace any day over answered prayers. He really is better than anything we can imagine.
